i’m going to be brave enough to post this today
and you may not like that i post this today
hell my very own family won’t like that i post this today
but this is a place for my thoughts
and if you’d rather see the hundredth “never forget” message
dance across your screen i promise there are plenty of
other places you can look.
but to me, who was a twelve year old girl who’s big brother
ran off to fight a war that she didn’t understand 
a war she still, ten years later, doesn’t understand 
that all started because of this day
well let’s just say my sentiments aren’t the same.
and yes, lives were lost that day and god rest them
don’t think for a moment that i don’t understand that.
but it’s hard for me to believe that those people would
have wanted all the pain and all of the suffering that
came from their deaths.
call me a hippie if you want to but i have to believe
that there could have been another way.
