i am thankful for the people in my life 
who i can just look at and know that
they know me (sometimes better than
i know myself). i am thankful for
california and that i finally have a tiny
place in the world that i can call home.
i’m thankful for my mother and all of her 
phenomenal strength. i’m thankful that i 
still have the ability to fight for the things
that i believe in and that i doubt i will ever
have any reason not to. i’m thankful for
city lights and worn down docks, thankful
for indie music and the way my cat sleeps
like a little old chinese man. i’m thankful for
the fact that nothing stays broken for long.
but most of all i’m thankful that at least once
a day i get to look around at my silly little life
and realize that i have everything i need.
