i’m posting this now
so that i will always remember the day
that i turned down the world on the platter
in order to fight my own way through the darkness
the devil wears a three piece suit
and makes phone calls on his blackberry
promising everything i’ve ever wanted
but i looked over at a poster on the wall
of the woman i’d spent my whole life dreaming of being
and she gave me the strength to say
i wouldn’t sell my soul nor my body
just so i wouldn’t have work for my dreams
i would rather be a fighter
i would rather be a classic
and i will have the world
but i’ll have it on my own terms
so that one day, some girl, somewhere
will look over at me
and have the strength to do the same.
